It’s Time to Reframe and Reclaim Women’s Mental Health
What if I told you that you're not broken?

Are you one of the many women who've struggled with mental health for years?
in and out of treatment, trying multiple medications, but nothing seems to help for long
misdiagnosed and dismissed by healthcare providers that you've trusted
feeling broken and wondering if something will always be "wrong" with you
Introducing
All In Her Head
This debut book addresses these questions by exploring the social, cultural and economic factors that influence women's mental health and wellbeing.

I write about mental health, wellbeing and gender bias in medicine.
I'm a science communicator and health researcher at heart. People gravitate to my writing because of my ability to distill complex scientific information into something much more digestible.
I think that the most pressing challenge we face in health and medicine is that we spend too much of our time and resources on producing "high-quality evidence," without a deeper understanding of how our implicit biases shape the health of people of different ages, races, genders, abilities, income levels, and sexual orientations—all of the social factors that make us human.

What if the reason you're anxious and depressed is more about the broken world you live in rather than about you as a person?

Writer, Researcher, Mom…
I was born and raised in Scarborough, Ontario, and I graduated with a master's degree in environmental studies from York University in 2006.
I have two girls and a wonderful partner-in-life. Our family pets are Winnie the pug and Pluto the crested gecko.
Although I don't do enough of it, I love to play music and can play the viola, piano and (somewhat terribly) the guitar.
FEMINIST WRITERS HELP US UNDERSTAND OURSELVES
“All over the world, women are told that the pain they feel is illegitimate. This thoughtful, beautiful book reveals that the attempts to belittle or discredit them are lies. By understanding women’s pain in this way, we can all begin to see a path to a better world.”
~ Johann Hari, author of Stolen Focus
I’m passionate about Science and Feminism
My career in health research began in the field of systematic reviews. I learned how to assess studies for bias, which can influence the result of a scientific study.
After giving birth to my two girls, I trained to become a part-time childbirth educator and birth doula. I worked by the motto "freedom of choice based on knowledge of all the alternatives," and strived to empower families with good scientific information while also recognizing the limitations of our medical system—especially when it comes to maternal and newborn health.
In 2022 I made a shift to healthcare communications. I currently work in media relations with scientists who lead cutting-edge studies to evaluate healthcare delivery and outcomes.
My debut nonfiction book, "All in Her Head: How Gender Bias Harms Women's Mental Health” was published on May 7, 2024, in Canada and the US, and on June 6, 2024, in the UK.

"Women’s pain and suffering is not all in our heads. It’s in our brains, our minds, and our bodies; it’s also in the brains, minds, and bodies of other human beings. It trickles in from the social, economic, and political world in which we live, and it is woven into the cultural story of our lives. To recover from this is to acknowledge that we all contribute to this pain and that we all have a responsibility to heal."
